Expressionism. An art movement of the early 20th century that started in Germany in which the artist aims to express their emotions through the use of vivid colors and strong, distorted lines. Expressionism was anticipated by Francisco de Goya and Vincent van Gogh. The work of Edvard Munch is a good example.
