Optical Mix. In painting, the blending by the eyes of juxtaposed dots or brushstrokes of pure colors when seen from a distance. Colors are not created by mixing them on the palette, but through knowledge of color theory and how the eye perceives colors that overlay each other. It is the opposite of 'physical' mix.
