Spattering. A technique for creating random, small dots of paint. Load a small amount of paint onto a brush or, even better, an old toothbrush, then flick it towards the paper with your finger or thumb. Or also, hold a stick firmly in one hand and hit the paint brush against it with the other. Jackson Pollock did this on a large scale.
