Renaissance. The term 'Renaissance' describes the 'rebirth' of cultural consciousness and learning that took place in European culture during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Renaissance brought about the demise of the Middle Ages and embodied for the first time the values of the modern world. This period found its inspiration, and its closest parallel, in the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome. As they did, the Renaissance emphasized on human beings, their environment, science and philosophy. The works of Michelangelo, Bellini, Boticelli and Leonardo da Vinci are the best examples.
